Inspired by Care

Located in El Paso, Texas, this 31,000-square-foot renovation transforms existing office space within University Medical Center into a contemporary, adaptable workplace that prioritizes connectivity, flexibility, and staff well-being. Designed to accommodate the evolving needs of a major healthcare institution, the project reimagines traditional administrative environments while maintaining uninterrupted medical center operations through a carefully coordinated, two-phase approach.

At the heart of the project is the transformation of a windowless basement into a restorative Physicians Lounge, Challenging the limitations of its subterranean setting, the design introduces a simulated skylight that evokes the changing qualities of natural daylight. Expansive landscape murals, natural materials, and a palette inspired by the Chihuahuan Desert establish a connection to the surrounding region, bringing a sense of openness and warmth to an otherwise enclosed environment. Distinct spaces for focused work, informal interaction, and respite offer physicians’ opportunities to recharge throughout the demands of their day.
