The Silvia A. Carreon Community Center encompasses a variety of meeting and exercise spaces including, a Gymnasium, Cardio Weights Room, Multi-purpose Room, Game Space, and Community Room with a stage platform, ample storage, and courtyard for outdoor activities. The gymnasium with 160 seat bleachers can be used as one official basketball court or two perpendicular smaller courts, divided by a roll-up divider curtain. The Community/Meeting areas have easy access to restrooms divided by STC 65 curtain partition. Each subdivided room has entrances from the exterior and interior of the building, adding flexibility to the use of space. When used at maximum capacity, the recreational center can have two games and three events simultaneously. Our team checked the project at various stages of the design both internally, and by an independent third party, the final estimate was well within the established budget.

The building design and systems are certified by the Green Building Initiative as GG II for resource efficiency and reduction of environmental impacts. The floor plan takes advantage of the surrounding green space by having large windows in strategic places and a carefully specified sustainable fenestration system (U-factor and SHGC compliant).
