The El Paso Water Administration Building project implements progressive design principles which include designing a 21st century workplace office environment and incorporating creative on-site stormwater management strategies which demonstrate to the community, how to sustainably utilize and develop land in the arid southwest climate. The project was completed in three phases. The first phase, consists of a new 79,776SF parking structure which contains approximately 155 parking spaces. A hybrid structural system of precast concrete elements and steel framing was used to address the site’s challenging grade differences.

The second phase comprises of a new four story, 79,776 SF office building which accommodates approximately 290 employees based on a 10-year growth projection. The building houses six engineering departments, the utility’s data center and IT department, government affairs and communications departments, executive and general counsel departments as well as accounting and finance departments. Various collaboration spaces, spatially defined by operable wall partitions, and equipped with movable furniture are provided throughout the building to allow various employee departments to meet and coordinate the utility’s active construction projects and day-to-day work activities.

The completed facility provides a modern, adaptable workplace that supports El Paso Water’s current operations while allowing for future growth and evolving workplace needs.
