Larry K. Durham Feasibility Study
Client University of Texas at El Paso
Location El Paso, Texas
Project Size 40,000 SF
Completion Date 03/2022
In an effort to strengthen student recruitment, alumni and business engagement, and overall community outreach, UTEP commissioned Exigo to conduct a feasibility study for a new Institutional Advancement Center. The proposed 40,000 SF facility, overlooking the Sun Bowl, will house a Welcome and Orientation Center with lecture and seminar rooms, retail space, a reception hall, business engagement offices, institutional advancement offices, student counseling services, and a large events kitchen. The project also includes the renovation of an events room designed to accommodate more than 600 guests.
This prominent and welcoming facility is envisioned to serve as a new “gateway” to the Sun Bowl while framing the adjacent Fan Plaza. Exigo collaborated closely with UTEP’s Facilities Office, as well as numerous departments and stakeholders, to explore and evaluate alternative solutions for this complex initiative. In alignment with UTEP’s Design Guidelines, Exigo developed a modern and inviting design rooted in the traditional Bhutanese architectural style, reinforcing campus identity while meeting contemporary functional needs.
